COOPERATION BETWEEN THE ORGANIZATION OF AMERICAN STATES
AND THE CARIBBEAN COMMUNITY
(Resolution adopted at the sixth plenary session, held on June 4, 1997)
THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY,
HAVING SEEN the general report on implementation of resolution AG/RES. 1374 (XXVI-
O/96), "Cooperation between the Organization of American States and the Caribbean
Community" (AG/doc.3470/97),
RESOLVES:
- To take note of the report of the Secretary General on implementation of resolution
AG/RES. 1374 (XXVI-O/96).
- To request the Secretary General to intensify efforts to deepen and expand cooperation
between the Organization of American States (OAS) and the Caribbean Community (CARICOM),
particularly among the various technical specialized areas of both organizations.
- To urge the Secretary General to finalize the preparatory activities for holding the
Second OAS-CARICOM General Meeting on Cooperation, which will take place in the second
half of 1997.
- To request the Secretary General to submit a report on implementation of this
resolution to the General Assembly at its twenty-eighth regular session.
