PARTICIPATION OF OBSERVERS AND SPECIAL GUESTS IN THE
FIFTH INTER-AMERICAN SPECIALIZED CONFERENCE
ON PRIVATE INTERNATIONAL LAW (CIDIP-V)
THE PERMANENT COUNCIL OF THE ORGANIZATION OF AMERICAN STATES,

CONSIDERING:

That Article 7.c of the Draft Rules of Procedure of the Fifth Inter-American Specialized Conference on Private International Law (CIDIP-V) establishes that "international or national organizations that maintain relations of cooperation with the Organization, or aside from this case, when the Permanent Council so decides," may accredit observers to the Conference, and

That Article 8 of the same draft Rules of Procedure states that "persons of recognized competence in the topics to be considered at the Conference may attend as special guests, when the Permanent Council or the Conference so decides,"

RESOLVES:

  1. To authorize the Secretary General of the Organization to invite the following agencies and entities to accredit observers to CIDIP-V:

  2. II. In addition, to authorize the Secretary General to invite the following persons to attend CIDIP-V as special guests in accordance with Article 8 of the Draft Rules of Procedure of the Conference:

    Mr. Juan Carlos Mato, Director General for Legal Protection of Minors, Ministry of Social Affairs of Spain

    Dr. Tatiana B. de Maekelt, Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences, Central University of Venezuela
