Air Transportation All meeting participants sponsored by IABIN should receive their itinerary from OMEGA WORLD TRAVEL. For any questions about the flights, please contact Luisa Fernanda Neira. If participants are charged any entry/exit fee by their own country or by the Dominican Republic, they will be reimbursed by the GS/OAS upon submission of receipts.
Visa Participants from any nationality with a valid U.S. visa do not need a visa for the Dominican Republic. The only participants who should request a visa for the Dominican Republic are those coming from Panama, Haiti and Colombia. The GS/OAS will issue letters for participants from these countries to present at the Dominican consulate in their countries and will reimburse all visa costs. Participants from all other countries will have to purchase a "tourism card" at the airport which costs US$10.
Transportation from the airports to the Viva Wyndham Resort A hotel van will be waiting for all participants in each airport. The transportation to and from any of the two airports (La Romana airport located 21 miles from the hotel and the Santo Domingo airport located 72 miles from the hotel), will be by arranged and covered by the GS/OAS. Participants doing their own travel arrangements should send their confirmed itinerary to Luisa Fernanda Neira so that we can coordinate your transportation to and from the airport.
Expenses at the hotel All meeting participants will be under the "all inclusive" plan (accommodations, unlimited food and drinks) of the Viva Windham Resort which is covered by the GS/OAS. In addition, Focal Points will receive between US$100 and US$150 upon their arrival to the Dominican Republic (depending on the country of origin) to cover other expenses including the "traveler card" to be purchased at the airport, transportation costs in their countries and any other airport tax. Any additional expenses such as room service, phone calls and laundry service will have to be paid by each participant and will not be refunded. Meeting Translation The meeting will have simultaneous translation in 2 languages: Spanish and English.
Currency The monetary unit of Dominican Republic is the "Dominican Peso". The exchange rate is 36 "Dominican Pesos" = US$1. Hotels, Restaurants and gift shops accept the main credit cards (American Express, Visa, MarterCard, etc.).
Weather In the month of July the temperature reaches a maximum of 33°C (91 °F) and a minimum of 23°C (73°F).
Local Time Bayahibe local time is (-5h GMT) the same as Eastern Standard Time (EST) in the USA.
Electricity The electric power in Bayahibe is 110 volts, 60 hertz. The electronic devices of different voltage must be used with an adapter.
Dress code The meeting dress code is business casual. For the field trip on Friday, July 17 it is recommended that attendees wear comfortable clothing that can dry easily and bring sunscreen, bathing suit, water shoes and bug repellent. If you will not be attending the field trip please inform Luisa Fernanda Neira.
