The Chief of Staff of the Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Ambassador Hugo de Zela, in charge of the General Secretariat, today received the President of the Congress of Peru, Victor Isla, with whom he reviewed the programs and initiatives in which the OAS can support the legislative body of the country.

During the meeting, held at OAS headquarters in Washington DC, the two discussed the possibility of expanding the cooperation between Peru and the OAS on issues related to legislative modernization, the use of new technologies in parliamentary management, the promotion of integrity, transparency and parliamentary honesty, and commitment to the Open Government Partnership, which is promoted by governments and institutions, including the OAS. They also discussed the implementation of initiatives in the area of ​​legislation and the fight against corruption, specifically regarding the Inter-American Convention against Corruption and the Follow-Up Mechanism for its Implementation (MESICIC).

Also attending the meeting were the Permanent Representative of Peru to the OAS, Ambassador Walter Jorge Alban, the OAS Secretary on Legal Affairs, Jean Michel Arrighi, and Moisés Benamor, Specialist of the OAS Department of Sustainable Democracy and Special Missions.
