The Inter-American Committee against Terrorism of the Organization of American States (CICTE/OAS) today held the Eleventh Meeting of National Points of Contact, focused on “Strengthening Cyber-Security in the Americas.” During the meeting a minute of silence was observed in memory of the late President of Venezuela, Hugo Chávez.

The meeting was opened by the Chair of CICTE and Permanent Representative of Guatemala to the OAS, José Rodrigo Vielmann de León, and continued with presentations from Marina Kaljurand, the Permanent Observer of Estonia to the OAS, and Robert W. Gordon, Special Advisor on Cyber-Security, Department of Public Security, Canada.

The meeting of National Points of Contacts (liasons between CICTE and the governments of Member States) precedes the annual meeting of CICTE, which will be held tomorrow at OAS headquarters in Washington, DC. OAS Assistant Secretary General Albert Ramdin will participate in the event’s opening.
