The Permanent Mission of Costa Rica to the Organization of American States (OAS) today donated to the Columbus Memorial Library of the hemispheric institution 28 books, which deal with history, politics and diplomacy of the Central American country and are, for the most part, written by Ambassador Jorge Sáenz Carbonell, current Director of the Diplomatic Institute "Manuel María Peralta" of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship of Costa Rica.

During the ceremony, the diplomat and author made a comprehensive presentation on the origins of diplomacy in Costa Rica and Central America, which he described as "not much explored at its beginning."

The event was led by the President of the Club of Friends of the Columbus Memorial Library and Permanent Representative of Canada to the OAS, Ambassador Allan Culham, and the Permanent Representative of Costa Rica, Ambassador Edgar Ugalde. Also in attendance were representatives from El Salvador, Guatemala and Nicaragua, and delegates from the diplomatic corps accredited to the hemispheric organization.
