The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, today received the Director General of the Colombian Agency for Reintegration, Alejandro Eder, at the headquarters of the OAS in Washington, DC.
During the meeting, Eder expressed his gratitude for the work carried out by the Organization through the Mission to Support the Peace Process in Colombia (MAPP/OAS), which he called "fundamental and relevant" for the reintegration of the demobilized armed groups that live outside the law, which is the primary mission of the agency he leads.
The Secretary General said the Organization will continue to support the peace process, and emphasized the excellent work that the Mission has done "together with the Colombian government," which has allowed it to "carry out very effectively the peace plan."
The Permanent Representative of Colombia to the OAS, Andrés González was present at the meeting, as were the Chief of Staff of the Secretary General, Hugo De Zela; the Secretary for Political Affairs of the Organization, Kevin Casas-Zamora; and the Director of the Department of Sustainable Democracy and Special Missions, Christopher Hernández-Roy.
