OAS Secretary General Receives Minister of Planning and Sustainable Development of Trinidad and Tobago

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, today received the Minister of Planning and Sustainable Development of Trinidad and Tobago, Bhoendradatt Tewarie, at the headquarters of the Organization in Washington DC.

Secretary General Insulza and the Minister discussed the current political situation in the region and the issues to be involved in the 8th Americas Competitiveness Forum to be held between October 8 and 10 in Trinidad and Tobago.

Minister Tewarie will participate in the regular meeting of the Inter-American Council for Integral Development of the OAS (CIDI), to be held tomorrow in Simon Bolivar Hall of the hemispheric institution. Also present at the meeting were the Assistant Secretary General, Albert Ramdin, the Permanent Representative of Trinidad and Tobago to the Organization, Neil Parsan, and the Director of the Department of Economic and Social Development of the OAS, Maryse Robert.
