OAS Secretary General and Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Met in the Context of the General Assembly

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, today welcomed the Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan, Yerzhan Ashikbaye, to his office set up in Asunción, Paraguay, for the 44th OAS General Assembly.

Deputy Minister Ashikbaye highlighted his country’s relationship with different countries in the hemisphere, noting that they have key issues in common. The diplomat thanked the OAS for its support in connecting Kazakhstan with the Americas and presented a contribution to help fund important OAS programs.

Others attending the meeting included the Permanent Observer of Kazakhstan to the OAS, Kairat Umarov, who also serves as his country’s Ambassador to the United States; the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Brazil, Bakytzhan Ordabaye; and the OAS Secretary for External Relations, Alfonso Quiñónez.
