Secretary General Receives Permanent Observer of Georgia

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, today received the Permanent Observer of Georgia, Archil Gegeshidze, at the headquarters of the hemispheric Organization in Washington, DC.

During the meeting, the Georgian diplomat spoke to the head of the OAS on the steps taken by his country to fully integrate into the European system, including those aimed at promoting transparency and eradicating corruption. In addition, Ambassador Gegeshidze welcomed the progress of the OAS in adapting its work to new times, through a process called "Strategic Vision" which was initiated by Secretary General Insulza.

The leader of the OAS, for his part, described the programs of the institution intended to expand transparency in the Americas, as well as various aspects of the Inter-American system.
