The new Permanent Representative of Suriname to the Organization of American States (OAS), Niermala Badrising today presented credentials to Secretary General Luis Almagro.

At a ceremony held at OAS headquarters in Washington DC, Ambassador Badrising said “the global and interconnected nature of the 21st century challenges require collective actions to find solutions that transcend national borders.” She also highlighted the need “for renewed multilateralism, one that could be based in an integrated approach and one that could be more in tune with the principles of international law and international relations.”

For his part, the OAS Secretary General, Luis Almagro, welcomed back the representative who had already served in the same position between 2012 and 2015, and emphasized the productive working relationship he maintained with Ambassador Badrising during her tenure as Minister of Foreign Affairs.
