New Ambassador of Mexico to the OAS Presents Credentials

The new Permanent Representative of Mexico to the Organization of American States, Jorge Lomónaco, today presented his credentials to the Secretary General of the Organization, Luis Almagro.

Ambassador Lomónaco expressed the commitment of his country to the OAS and to multilateralism. “Mexico is absolutely convinced of the importance of multilateralism as an effective way to resolve the common transnational challenges. It is therefore indispensable to strengthen, respect and even when necessary defend the multilateral heritage that we have built both at the global and Inter-American level,” said the Ambassador.

For his part, Secretary General Almagro highlighted that Mexico and the OAS both place a high priority on human rights and democracy. “We share the vision of a thriving organism in which the intrinsic values that gave birth to it are our guide and bulwark in the actions of each day,” said the Secretary General.

Ambassador Lomónaco has been Mexico´s representative to the United Nations, and previously ambassador to Sweden and the Netherlands, among other positions.
