The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, and the Mayor of the District of Columbia, Adrian Fenty, held a conversation today with participants of the Americas’ Young Ambassadors Program at OAS headquarters in Washington, DC.

The aim of the program, which began June 28 and will end August 17, is to offer students 14 to 21 years old the opportunity to perform various tasks at OAS Permanent Missions to contribute to their professional work experience. This year, the Permanent Missions of Bolivia, Chile, El Salvador, Grenada, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay and St. Lucia welcomed participants in the program.

During the event, Secretary General Insulza congratulated the students and wished them that this experience would “provide you with good job training but also encourage you to explore careers in public service and diplomacy.”
