OAS Secretary General Meets with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saint Kitts and Nevis

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, today met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Security, Labour, Immigration and Social Security of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Sam T. Condor.

The central theme of the meeting was the growing problem of criminality and violence in the hemisphere, as well as the role of the OAS in coordinating and leading an initiative to fight this scourge and some of its causes, such as poverty and discrimination. The two agreed to promote this project through the Secretariat for Multidimensional Security of the hemispheric organization.

The meeting was held in the office of Secretary General Insulza in Washington, DC. Also present was the Ambassador of Saint Kitts and Nevis to the United States and Permanent Representative to the OAS, Izben C. Williams.
