The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, the Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), Alicia Bárcena, and the Director General of the Mexico City Campus of the Tecnológico de Monterrey, Arturo Molina, today signed a cooperation agreement to promote Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) among the region’s enterprises.

The partnership, in which the Young Americas Business Trust (YABT), an OAS affiliate, participates, has as its objective to promote dialogue between the public and business sectors on issues of interest such as the generation of a system of incentives and implementation of public policies to broaden the creation and/or conversion of businesses and green markets.

During the signing ceremony, held at ECLAC Main Headquarters in Santiago, Chile, the authorities committed themselves to develop joint activities in the section related to CSR in the 2011 version of “Expo Negocios Verdes” (“Green Business Expo”), to be held in Mexico from April 4 to 6. This will give enterprises a better vision of the relevant environmental and social issues and management tools that will allow them to make progress on measuring their environmental and social performance.
