The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, participated today in Santo Domingo in the inauguration of the Fifth Americas Competitiveness Forum, an event the goal of which is to promote the exchange of ideas and knowledge on this subject among the countries of the continent.

“This event, which brings together the entire hemisphere, is a unique opportunity to strengthen our ties of collaboration, to learn by sharing our experiences and best practices, and to identify synergies among our initiatives so we may all move forward towards a more innovative, competitive and prosperous region,” said the head of the continental Organization. Furthermore, he recalled that “our competitiveness as a region can be strengthened through cooperation between all our countries.”

At the inauguration, Secretary General Insulza joined the President of the Dominican Republic, Leonel Fernández, and First Lady Margarita Cedeño de Fernández; the United States Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton; and the Minister-Executive Secretary of the National Competitiveness Council of the Dominican Republic, Andrés van der Horst.
