PERUVIAN FIRST LADY TO ATTEND OAS SPECIAL SESSION

  February 21, 2003

The First Lady of Peru, Eliane Karp de Toledo, will participate next Monday at the opening of a special session to continue work on the Draft American Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

The working group preparing the declaration will meet all week at the Organization of American States (OAS) to examine sections related to human rights, social, economic and property rights, and the preamble, among other matters. Peru’s Ambassador to the OAS, Eduardo Ferrero Costa, chairs the working group.
