Each year in April, the OAS Board of External Auditors publishes a report covering the previous calendar year’s financial results. Reports covering 1996-2016 may be found here.

OAS to Participate in Meeting on Sustainable Tourism in the Greater Caribbean in Nicaragua

The Organization of American States (OAS), through its Department of Economic Development, Trade and Tourism, will participate in a key meeting of leading agencies engaged in tourism development in the Greater Caribbean on February 18, 2013 in Managua, Nicaragua.
The meeting will look for ways to improve cooperation between agencies for the promotion, growth and sustainability of the tourism industry in the region. Participants will exchange experiences and discuss regional priorities in order to define opportunities for collaboration, joint project execution and the mobilization of resources. A primary objective of the meeting is the establishment and strengthening of mechanisms of cooperation in sustainable tourism. Participants will seek a harmonized approach to sustainable destination management and the development of a joint regional agenda for promoting sustainable tourism.
Participating organizations will look to contribute to the sustainable development of tourism of the region by aligning of complementary work programs and identifying gaps in an effort to contribute to a more efficient use of resources and reduce the duplication of efforts. The meeting will be hosted by the Minister of Tourism of Nicaragua, Mario Salinas Pasos, in his capacity as Chair of the Special Committee on Sustainable Tourism of the Association of Caribbean States.
Delegates from the Organization of American States (OAS), the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO), the Caribsave Partnership, the Central American Tourism Integration Secretariat (SITCA), the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the meeting’s organizer, the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), are expected to attend.
