BRAZIL FORUM TO FOCUS ON CONFLICT OF INTEREST POLICIES IN PUBLIC SECTOR

Experts, public sector managers, business leaders and NGO representatives will join officials from Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and Organization of American States (OAS) member countries at a Forum on Implementing Conflict of Interest Policies in the Public Sector, on May 5-6, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Organized jointly by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), with the support of the OAS and the Brazilian government, this Forum will review experiences in designing and implementing conflict-of-interest policies in the public service; explore practical approaches in the application of policy guidelines, benchmarks and hands-on management tools to improve the identification, control and management of conflict-of-interest; and identify conditions conducive to successful implementation of national conflict-of-interest policies.
Among those scheduled to address the opening session are Minister Waldir Pires, Controller General of Brazil; José Dirceu, Chief Minister in the Office of the President; and Ambassador Valter Pecly Moreira, Brazil’s Permanent Representative to the OAS, who is Chairman of the Conference of participating states of the Follow-up Mechanism for the Implementation of the Inter-American Convention against Corruption.
