OAS Round Table on Combating Violence against Women

The Organization of American States (OAS) will host a Policy Round Table on “Priorities for Action in Combating Violence against Women” on Wednesday, July 11, at the headquarters of the hemispheric organization in Washington DC.

The Round Table, which will be inaugurated by the OAS Secretary General José Miguel Insulza, is organized by the Inter-American Commission of Women and the Department of International Affairs of the OAS, together with UN Women and the Permanent Mission of France to the OAS.

The members of the panel are: Patricia Olamendi, Coordinator of the Follow-up Mechanism to the Belém do Pará Convention (MESECVI) Committee of Experts; Mayvonne Lyazid, Assistant Ombudsperson of France and Vice President of the Department for the Fight against Discrimination and the Promotion of Equality; Elizabeth Abi-Mershed, Acting Executive Secretary of the Inter-American Commission of Human Rights of the OAS; and María Leticia Guelfi, representative of UN Women.
