Cybersecurity Program of CICTE of the OAS Organizes 2022 Virtual Cybersecurity Symposium

The Cybersecurity Program of the Inter-American Committee against Terrorism (CICTE) of the Organization of American States (OAS) will hold, from October 3 to 7, 2022, the eighth edition of the Cybersecurity Symposium. This discussion forum related to cybersecurity trends aims to train industry experts and professionals in different topics such as data analysis, internet privacy and security trends, public cybersecurity policies, and cybercrime, among others.

The symposium will feature participants and panelists from the public sector, private sector companies associated with the cybersecurity program, academics from international universities, and specialists from the OAS. The event is intended for decision makers, specialists from cyberattack response centers, cybersecurity bodies and the general public interested in cybersecurity.

The opening and closing sessions will include the participation of:

• Alison August Treppel, Executive Secretary of CICTE,OAS
• Luis Oliveira, Secretary of Multidimensional Security, OAS
• Jennifer Bachus, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Cyberspace and Digital Policy, U.S. Department of State
• Mark Ryland, Director, Office of the CISO, AWS Security
• Neumann Lim, Senior Manager, Deloitte Canada

Likewise, there will be panels, keynote presentations and three workshops dedicated to cybersecurity technical training, which will address topics such as cyber incident management, gender perspective in policy development, the importance of CSIRTs for policy makers, national cybersecurity strategies, among others.

This symposium marks the beginning of the activities programmed by CICTE within the Cybersecurity Awareness Month, which will be held throughout the month of October.
