Ministers of Public Security of the Americas Meet in Lima to Seek Solutions to Crime, Violence and Insecurity

The Ministers of Public Security of the Americas will meet in Lima on November 19 and 20, convened by the Organization of American States (OAS) to discuss measures and programs focused on the prevention of the scourges of crime, violence and insecurity.

The opening session of the Fifth Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Public Security of the Americas (MISPA), will take place on Thursday at 9:00 local time (13:00 GMT) at the Westin Lima Hotel & Convention Center, in the Peruvian capital. The event will feature the participation of the OAS Secretary General, Luis Almagro, and the president of the Council of Ministers of Peru, Pedro Cateriano Bellido.

The meeting's agenda will focus on the evaluation of initiatives and social programs to reduce risk factors and promote greater social inclusion and alternatives to prevent crime, violence and insecurity. Also during the meeting, ministers will analyze how the collection, standardization and analysis of data is crucial for the design and implementation of public policies in this area as well as the analysis of available data at the hemispheric level.
