OAS Special Assembly Approves 2018 Program-Budget

The Special General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS) today approved the Program Budget of the Regular Fund of the hemispheric institution for the year 2018.
The approved budget for the Regular Fund, financed by contributions from member countries through quotas, amounts to US $84,822,831. At the same time the General Assembly approved an execution ceiling of US $81,575,000.

The Program-Budget for 2018 allocates extra funds to the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, the Inter-American Commission of Women, the Inter-American Children´s Institute and the Executive Secretariat for Integral Development.

The budget follows the guidelines of the Strategic Plan, which guides the work of the Organization in the coming years and is based on the Strategic Vision
of the Organization.

The General Assembly, which took place today at the headquarters of the hemispheric organization in Washington, DC, was chaired by the Permanent Representative of Paraguay, Elisa Ruíz Díaz.
