Each year in April, the OAS Board of External Auditors publishes a report covering the previous calendar year’s financial results. Reports covering 1996-2016 may be found here.

El Salvador: OAS Secretary General Urges Respect for Independence of State Powers

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Luis Almagro, today called for an end to pressures and verbal attacks against the Supreme Court of Justice and the Attorney General of El Salvador, which he called "a serious threat to the independence of powers in the Central American country."
In this context, Almagro called on the leaders of the various political forces to "moderate the current rhetoric which leads to confrontation, stop the pressures, moderate positions and stop promoting protests that put the independence of powers at risk, as well as the security of their communities and the stability of the country."
At the same time, he urged all sectors, in particular the ARENA party and the government to "open a dialogue that leads promptly to a long-term solution to the fragile economic situation of the country that puts its position vis-a-vis international financial organs at risks, which could bring uncertain situations for the country and the region."
Recently, the Salvadoran institutional system has been shaken by conflicts between state powers that have generated, among other problems, uncertainty regarding the financing of the national budget.
