OAS SECRETARY GENERAL CONDEMNS TERRORIST ACT IN VENEZUELA

  November 19, 2004

The Acting Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Luigi R. Einaudi, today condemned the terrorist act in Venezuela that took the life of Prosecutor Danilo Anderson.

“We in the inter-American community strongly repudiate terrorism – whatever its source or motivation – which is an offense against peace, democracy and fundamental liberties,” Einaudi affirmed. “We call on all Venezuelan citizens, who in recent years have shown the world their civic spirit and political maturity, to maintain absolute respect for the rule of law.”

On behalf of the OAS member states, the Acting Secretary General expressed his solidarity with Prosecutor Anderson’s family and with the government and people of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
