Each year the OAS Secretary General publishes a proposed Program-Budget for the coming calendar year. The OAS General Assembly meets in a Special Session to approve the Program-Budget. Find these documents from 1998-2013 here.
Each year in April, the OAS Board of External Auditors publishes a report covering the previous calendar year’s financial results. Reports covering 1996-2016 may be found here.

Inter-American Juridical Committee (IAJC) Concludes its 77th Regular Session

The Inter-American Juridical Committee (IAJC) today concluded its 77th regular session, held at its premises in the city of Rio de Janeiro beginning August 2.
The IAJC, the advisory body of the Organization of American States (OAS) on juridical matters, has as its main purpose to promote the progressive development and codification of international law, to study juridical problems related to the integration of developing countries of the Western Hemisphere and to promote the process of attaining uniformity in the legislation of Member States.
Among the mandates that the Committee is involved in during the current regular session may be highlighted the discussion of reports in areas such as International Humanitarian Law, International Criminal Court, Refugees, Liberty of Thought and Expression, Cultural Diversity and Democracy. In addition, the General Assembly held in Lima in June 2010 requested the Committee to conduct a juridical study on the mechanisms of participative democracy and of citizen participation as embodied in the legislations of some countries in the region, plus a comparative analysis of the main juridical instruments of the inter-American system related to peace, security and cooperation.
On this occasion, the members of the Committee held meetings with some lecturers and experts in International Law who were also participating in the Course of International Law that was being held simultaneously with the regular session.
On Friday, August 6, the Committee elected by acclamation the authorities of the body for the next two years. Dr. Guilllermo Fernández de Soto and Dr. João Clemente Baena Soares were elected Chairman and Vice-chairman, respectively. Furthermore, on August 9 the members of the Committee held a high-level dialogue on the topics of the Agenda of the Committee with lecturers of the Getulio Vargas Foundation at the latter’s headquarters.
The Committee is composed of 11 jurists from Member States: Guilllermo Fernández de Soto (Chairman), João Clemente Baena Soares (Vice-Chairman), Freddy Castillo Castellanos, Mauricio Herdocia Sacasa, Jean-Paul Hubert, Hyacinth Evadne Lindsay, Fabián Novak Talavera, Jorge Palacios Treviño, Miguel Pichardo Olivier, David P. Stewart and Ana Elizabeth Villalta Vizcarra.
