OAS Assistant Secretary General meets with El Salvador Authorities and Private Sector

The Assistant Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Albert Ramdin, paid a working visit to El Salvador where he held meetings with Foreign Minister Jaime Miranda, representatives of the private sector, and the Central American Integration System (SICA) Secretariat.

Minister Miranda and Assistant Secretary General Ramdin discussed the OAS support to the Electoral Observation Mission on the occasion of the February 2014 elections. They also discussed ways to collaborate in order to promote increased trade exchanges between El Salvador and the Caribbean.

The OAS high official also met with representatives of the Salvadoran private sector and encouraged them to become more involved in the activities of the OAS and to explore business and investment opportunities between Central America and the Caribbean.

During his visit, Assistant Secretary General Ramdin and SICA’s new Secretary General, Hugo Martínez, agreed to hold a meeting with the priority thematic areas’ technical teams of both organizations to coordinate activities and provide the support of the OAS to the Central American integration agenda.
