The Organization of American States (OAS) is bringing together youth organizations, private sector representatives, and government officials from across the Americas next month at the OAS Youth Conference of the Americas, in Washington, D.C.

Hosted by Secretary General José Miguel Insulza and Assistant Secretary General Albert Ramdin, the OAS Youth Conference of the Americas will feature key presentations from young, game-changing CEOs, industry experts, and government officials from countries across the Hemisphere.

The event, scheduled to take place on November 5, will feature the Vice President of the Dominican Republic, Margarita Cedeño de Fernández, and the First Lady of Panama, the Honorable Marta Linares de Martinelli.

The conference will present an opportunity for the audience to interact with leaders in key areas, such as “The Responsible Use of Technology: Democracy and Privacy in a Modern World,” featuring experts like Pedro Less Andrade, Google; José Luis Pinar, International Expert; Congresswoman Marisol Pérez Tello, Justice Committee, Peru; Juan David Hincapie Gómez, recipient of the Victory Award; Daniel Diaz Leyva, Infante Zumpano.

Another major highlight of the OAS Youth Conference will be a discussion and interaction on “Game Changers of the Americas: Making Money and Making a Difference,” featuring top young CEOs and experts from across the Americas, including Jason Jannati, GreeNEWit Energy; Dominic Hadeed, Blue Waters Ltd; Claude Zdanow, Stadiumred; Tomicah Tilleman, top advisor on emerging democracies.

According to OAS Secretary General José Miguel Insulza, “the OAS Youth Conference of the Americas is aimed at providing a space and creating an opportunity for the youth of the Americas to engage not just with the OAS, but with leaders from different industries in this hemisphere. There are stories of excellence coming from our member states, and we are providing a platform to share these stories, so the youth of the Americas can be encouraged and inspired.”

Assistant Secretary General Albert Ramdin, Chair of the OAS working group on Youth, says the Conference is seeking to be practical and relevant to respond to the circumstances facing the youth of the Americas. “We will have a frank and open discussion on the responsible use of technology, so we are bringing together experts to present their views. At the same time, we want to challenge and inspire the youth of the Americas to make use of their voice and make a difference, so we are bringing together a group of young executives and CEOs under 40 to discuss key issues affecting this generation.”
