INSULZA HIGHLIGHTS THE STRENGTH OF VENEZUELAN DEMOCRACY AFTER REGIONAL ELECTIONS

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, congratulated the Government and the people of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, for the normality of the regional elections that took place yesterday in the country and praised the massive participation by Venezuela’s citizens, who went to the polls in a peaceful and orderly manner.

Insulza highlighted the citizens’ civic behavior, which was manifested through the highest voter turn out in this type of elections in Venezuela’s history; and in the peaceful and exemplary journey “that speaks to a maturity that strengthen democratic institutions.”

Likewise, the OAS Secretary General highlighted the willingness declared by the Government and by the opposition to explore opportunities for dialogue and a mutual cooperation in the solution of the national problems facing the country.
