OAS Secretary General Laments Death of former Vice President and Foreign Minister Morales Troncoso

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, today expressed his deep sadness over the death of the former Vice President and Foreign Minister of the Dominican Republic, Carlos Morales Troncoso. The head of the hemispheric Organization said "Carlos was a true friend, a great Vice President and Foreign Minister, politician and businessman who served his country with distinction and efficiency. He was a great contributor to the OAS and we will be forever grateful."

Insulza said that "his vision, tenacity and commitment to his country always characterized his public action in all areas in which he worked during his long life of service." Insulza also recalled that as an "important and successful entrepreneur, he never hesitated to put the interests of the Dominican Republic first whenever he was required to do so, and he always did so with good will, joy and a positive spirit, leaving an indelible mark."

The Secretary General of the OAS sent his condolences to the Morales family, the President of Dominican Republic, Danilo Medina, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and all the Dominican people for the loss of Carlos Morales Troncoso.
