OAS Begins Technical Cooperation Project in Bolivia

  December 8, 2014

In response to a request from the Supreme Electoral Tribunal of Bolivia, the Organization of American States (OAS), through the Department of Electoral Cooperation and Observation (DECO) of the Secretariat for Political Affairs, will begin a technical cooperation project focused on the analysis and evaluation of the procedures for populating, cleansing and updating the electoral registry, in advance of the March 2015 elections.

A technical team of international experts will conduct a diagnostic to identify specific findings as well as recommendations to improve current processes, and highlight actions that require priority attention. The team will also verify the extent to which recommendations made by the OAS during the 2008 audit have been implemented. Information gathered in this effort will facilitate the identification of other potential areas of technical cooperation, while at the same time highlighting best practices implemented by the Tribunal.
