FOOD FESTIVAL OF THE AMERICAS TO BE HELD AT OAS

  April 3, 2003

On Sunday, April 27, the Organization of Women of the Americas (OWA) will host the Fifth Food Festival of the Americas, an event that allows the public to experience the rich diversity of food, music and dances from the countries of the hemisphere.

The popular festival also includes a raffle, with prizes that include several round-trip airline tickets (DC-Brazil, DC-Central or South America or Caribbean, Miami-Bolivia, Richmond-Bahamas). Other prizes include paintings by Chilean artist Margarita Calvo, another by a Nicaraguan artist, an oil painting from a renowned school in Peru and an artwork by Venezuelan José Pedrañez.

Raffle tickets are $10.00 each. Admission to the Festival itself is free.

All proceeds from the sale of food, crafts and raffle tickets are donated to charitable organizations. This year the funds will help mainly the Pediatric Clinic of the Hispanic Catholic Center of Washington, DC, an organization that helps the neediest Latin American and Caribbean people living in the Washington, Maryland and Virginia area, and other charitable organizations.
