Each year the OAS Secretary General publishes a
proposed Program-Budget for the coming calendar
year. The OAS General Assembly meets in a Special
Session to approve the Program-Budget. Find these

Each year in April, the OAS Board of External Auditors
publishes a report covering the previous calendar
year’s financial results. Reports covering 1996-2013
may be found here.
Approximately six weeks after the end of each semester,
the OAS publishes a Semiannual Management and Performance
Report, which since 2013 includes reporting on programmatic

The OAS executes a variety of projects funded by

The Inspector General provides the Secretary General
with reports on the audits, investigations, and
inspections conducted. These reports are made available

The OAS has discussed for several years the real
estate issue, the funding required for maintenance
and repairs, as well as the deferred maintenance
of its historic buildings. The General Secretariat
has provided a series of options for funding it.

Metrology for
Sustainable Energy Technologies
and the Environment (M4SET)
International Forum for Sensitization on Environment, Energy and Public Health
The event was held on October 11 and 12, 2018, in the framework of the Symposium of Metrology 2018, in Santiago de Querétaro, Mexico. The forum had the participation of different Regions of the World and focused on the role of Metrology for Technological Innovation and Sustainable Development.
Three panels were implemented where new developments in gas analysis and their applications for the environment, energy and public health were presented. Among the topics addressed, emphasis was given to air quality, analyzing the current state of air quality in Mexico and its monitoring systems; mobile emissions (including Mexican vehicle verification standards and CENAM support for this matter); the role of the National Metrology Institutes in strengthening the measurement infrastructure, traceability and calibration; energy applications such as the use of hydrogen as a cleaner energy, the regulation of H2S for the geothermal industry and the capture and sequestration of carbon. Finally, the international panelists presented on new developments, their point of view on Natural Gas, Liquefied Gas and Liquefied Petroleum Gas.
The activity had the participation of around 70 people, and was organized by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the National Metrology Center of Mexico (CENAM), and the Organization of American States (OAS).
At the same time, within the framework of the National Metrology Symposium, other activities were carried out led by the Working Group on Gas Analysis (GAWG) of the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM). Participants from the National Metrology Institutes had the opportunity to attend as observers the 39th Meeting of the Gas Analysis Working Group (GAWG) of the Substance Quantity Advisory Committee (CCQM), and the GAWG Scientific Workshop.
