COOPERATION IN ACTION

OAS-SEDI: Forging New Partnerships for Development

José Miguel Insulza, OAS Secretary General, and Rafael Moreno Valle ,  Governor of the state of Puebla at the signing ceremony.OAS and the Mexican State of Puebla sign Agreement to Promote Integral Development. The agreement, signed by OAS Secretary General, José Miguel Insulza and the Governor of the state of Puebla, Rafael Moreno Valle, establishes the bases for cooperation between the organization and Puebla for the “design and development of actions, programs and projects aimed at the strengthening of public policies related to integral development”. The state of Puebla and the OAS have effectively collaborated in projects in the areas of education, tourism, and security, and the new agreement will expand this work to projects on culture, corporate social responsibility, competitiveness, innovation and technology.

Marie Levens, Director of the OAS-SEDI Department of Human Development, Education and Employment, and Dr. Francisco Becerra Posada, Assistant Director of PAHO.OAS - PAHO agreement to provide scholarship opportunities in the area of health. The OAS and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) joined efforts to provide new scholarships to strengthen the technical and research abilities of those working in the field of health. The first scholarships will be offered in the next call of the scholarship program for studies in Brazil. It is expected that additional scholarships in this area will eventually be offered in other OAS Member States to cover on-site and online opportunities for training, undergraduate and graduate programs and research.

Marie Levens, Director of the OAS-SEDI Department of Human Development, Education and Employment, and Dr. Francisco Becerra Posada, Assistant Director of PAHO.OAS and Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia announce new scholarship opportunities. As part of the government’s efforts to strengthen ties with the Americas, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia will offer undergraduate scholarships at the University for Information Science and Technology St. Paul the Apostle, in the city of Ohrid. Students will attend classes in English and receive full tuition, visa fees, travel, accommodation, health insurance and a monthly stipend.
