Ph.D. scholarships valued at over 10 million US dollars offered by the OAS in Belgium
A new door of opportunity has opened for
professionals and academics seeking to complete PhD studies in
Europe. In partnership with the
Vrije
Universiteit Brussel (VUB), in Belgium, the OAS-SEDI has opened
a scholarship offering for citizens of the Americas. Sixty (60)
scholarships for PhD studies will be offered each year for the next
five years. These scholarships are valued at over 10 million US
dollars.
The OAS has awarded nearly 260 PhD scholarships
since 2007. As the region continues to experience greater economic
and social development, and as the demand for highly trained and
skilled professionals grows, it is expected that the demand for
tertiary education will also increase. The new agreement with the
VUB will allow the Organization to respond to this growing demand
and continue to offer additional opportunities for quality
education.
The
Vrije Universiteit Brussel, an internationally renowned research
institution with a consolidated doctoral training program, is a
strategic partner for the OAS, as both organizations work to achieve
their joint objectives. The VUB, as does the OAS, considers the
promotion of democracy to be the basis of its work and one of its
core principles. The partnership also serves to advance both
organizations’ common purpose to create international educational
opportunities and to connect people across borders.
Ph.D. candidates may pursue research in
Educational Sciences, Engineering, and Public Health. Classes will be
conducted in English and onsite at the campus of the VUB in Belgium
during a 4-year period. Scholarship awardees will receive benefits
covering the program’s cost, including application and tuition fees,
supervisor bench fee, general health insurance, and repatriation
costs.
The
deadline to submit
applications is September 30th, 2014. For further

opportunities visit
