The following page describes actions taken during 2014 regarding multilateral treaties.

On December 12, 2014, the General Secretariat received a Note Verbale on the suspension of guaranties from the Permanent Mission of Guatemala to the OAS, in accordance with article 27, paragraph 3 of the American Convention on Human Rights, Note M12 OEA-VF, 767-2014.

On November 10, 2014, Argentina deposited the instrument of accession to the Inter-American Convention on Serving Criminal Sentences Abroad. Argentina also reported on the designation of the “Dirección Nacional de Cooperación Internacional Jurídica y en Sistema Judiciales del Ministerio de Justicia y Derechos Humanos de la República Argentina” as the central authority designated to perform the functions provided in the Convention, in accordance with its Article XI.

On November 7, 2014, the General Secretariat received two Notes Verbales on the suspension of guaranties from the Permanent Mission of Peru to the OAS, in accordance with article 27, paragraph 3 of the American Convention on Human Rights, Notes No.7-5M/357 and No.7-5M/359.

On October 20, 2014, the Czech Republic deposited with the General Secretariat a document which contains the instrument withdrawing the reservation to article XVI of the Inter-American Convention on Serving Criminal Sentences Abroad.

On September 19, 2014, the General Secretariat received a Note Verbal on the suspension of guaranties from the Permanent Mission of Peru to the OAS, in accordance with article 27, paragraph 3 of the American Convention on Human Rights, Note No.7-5M/323.

On September 8, 2014, Colombia signed the Inter-American Convention against Racism, Racial Discrimination, and Related Intolerance.

On August 26, 2014, the Permanent Mission of Panama to the OAS informed on the designation of the "Dirección General de Asuntos Jurídicos y Tratados del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores de la Republica de Panamá" as the central authority for the Inter-American Convention on Letters Rogatory.

On August 8, 2014, the General Secretariat received two Notes Verbales on the suspension of guaranties from the Permanent Mission of Peru to the OAS, in accordance with article 27, paragraph 3 of the American Convention on Human Rights, Notes No.7-5M/271 and No.7-5M/273.

On July 11, 2014, the General Secretariat acknowledged receipt of a letter by the Government of the United States of Mexico, notifying the depository of the withdrawal of the reservation to article 6º of the Convention on the status of aliens, adopted in La Habana, Cuba, on February 20, 1928.

On July 11, 2014, the General Secretariat acknowledged receipt of a letter by the Government of the United States of Mexico, notifying the depositary of the withdrawal of the reservation to the final wording of the first of three paragraphs submitted with the "Declaration for recognition of the jurisdiction of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights”.

On July 11, 2014, the General Secretariat acknowledged receipt of a letter by the Government of the United States of Mexico, notifying the depositary of the withdrawal of the reservation to Article IX of the Inter-American Convention on Forced Disappearance of Persons, signed in Belém do Pará, Brazil, on June 9, 1994.

On July 7, 2014, the General Secretariat acknowledged receipt of a letter by the Government of the Honduras, notifying the depository of the presentation of a declaration to the “inter-American Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters;” it also informed the depository about the designation of the “Secretaría de Estado en los Despachos de Derechos Humanos, Justicia, Gobernación y Decentralización" as the central authority for the said “Inter-American Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters” and the “Optional Protocol related to the Inter-American Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters.”

On June 25, 2014, Haiti signed the Inter-American Convention against Racism, Racial Discrimination, and Related Intolerance.

On June 18, 2014, the General Secretariat received two Notes Verbales on the suspension of guaranties from the Permanent Mission of Peru to the OAS, in accordance with article 27, paragraph 3 of the American Convention on Human Rights, Notes No.7-5M/198 and No.7-5M/200.

On June 5, 2014, Panama signed the Inter-American Convention against Racism, Racial Discrimination, and Related Intolerance.

On May 5, 2014, India reported on the designation of the "Centre State Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India" as the central authority for the Inter-American Convention on Serving Criminal Sentences Abroad.

On May 5, 2014, India deposited the instrument of accession to the Inter-American Convention on Serving Criminal Sentences Abroad. The instrument contains some declarations.

On May 1, 2014, the General Secretariat received from the Office of International Judicial Assistance of the Department of Justice of the United States updated contact information regarding the Inter-American Convention on Letters Rogatory and the Additional Protocol to the Inter-American Convention on Letters Rogatory. The Office of International Judicial Assistance elected to utilize a private contractor to execute service requests under the above-mentioned conventions to Process Forwarding International (PFI), which is know as ABC Legal. Accordingly, Requesting Authorities should send documents directly to PFI.

On February 19, 2014, the General Secretariat received Note verbale No. 4-2-53/2014 from the Permanent Mission of Ecuador, by which said country delivered the instrument of denunciation of the Inter-American Treaty of Reciprocal Assistance (Rio Treaty) in accordance with Article 25 of said Treaty.

On February 3, 2014, Brazil deposited the instrument of ratification to the Inter-American Convention on Forced Disappearance of Persons.

On January 28, 2014, the General Secretariat received two Notes Verbales on the suspension of guaranties from the Permanent Mission of Peru to the OAS, in accordance with article 27, paragraph 3 of the American Convention on Human Rights, Notes No.7-5M/029 and No.7-5M/031.
