Each year in April, the OAS Board of External Auditors publishes a report covering the previous calendar year’s financial results. Reports covering 1996-2016 may be found here.

The 51st GELAVEX Meeting will be held on November 16 and 17, 2021 in Mexico City in hybrid format – in person and virtual, and will be chaired by the Government of Mexico, through the Financial Intelligence Unit (UIF), attached to the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit. During the event, the two working subgroups and the chair will discuss the following:
GELAVEX is currently constituted as one of the advisory bodies of the OAS and has as its Technical Secretariat the Department against Transnational Organized Crime (DTOC), in accordance with the provisions of Executive Order 16-01 Rev. 1 issued by the Secretary General of the OAS in July 2016, and which establishes the DTOC.
GELAVEX is made up of two Working Sub-Groups: International Cooperation and Confiscation; and Coordination between Financial Intelligence Units (FIU) and Criminal Investigation Organizations (CIO).
In accordance with the approved 2020-2021 work plan, the Sub-Working Group on International Cooperation and Confiscation will work on:
1 To promote the creation of the Illicit Assets Management Network at the hemispheric or subregional level.
2 To promote the creation of a model for the distribution of assets, as a reference document for OAS member states.
The Working Subgroup of Financial Intelligence Units and Criminal Investigation Organizations will be focused on:
1 Identifying cases with a criminal investigation focus on Crypto Assets, emphasizing successful investigations in any of the Member States, to share relevant information and good practices.
2 Working on money laundering from crimes of corruption, illicit drug and arms trafficking, and tax fraud, with an emphasis on identifying typologies and legislative analysis in the countries of the group.
Presenting the products developed in accordance with the approved Work Plan and the recommendations agreed at the 49th GELAVEX Meeting, held from Asunción, Paraguay, on November 10, 2020 as well as the approval of the new Strategic Plan 2021-2023 and the Work Plan 2020-2021.
