XVIII PAN AMERICAN CHILD CONGRESS(Resolution adopted at the eighth plenary session, held on June 7, 1996)
THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY,
HAVING SEEN the Report of the Permanent Council on the XVIII Pan American Child Congress (AG/doc.3308/96);
RECALLING that Chapter XVII of the Charter of the Organization of American States (OAS) provides for the holding of Specialized Conferences by the Specialized Organizations of the Organization of American States; and
TAKING INTO ACCOUNT:
That the Inter-American Children's Institute is a Specialized Organization of the OAS;
That the Institute has complied with the provisions of Articles 121 and 122 of the Charter;
That all previous Pan American Child Congresses, since their inception in 1924, have been Specialized Conferences; and
That the XVIII Pan American Child Congress will be held in September 1997,
RESOLVES:
1. To declare the XVIII Pan American Child Congress a Specialized Conference, pursuant to Article 121 of the Charter.
2. To express its appreciation to the Government of the Argentine Republic for offering to host the XVIII Pan American Child Congress.
