NEW DATE FOR THE
SECOND OAS HEMISPHERIC ANTICORRUPTION CONFERENCE
The dates for the “Second Conference on the Progress and Challenges in
Hemispheric Cooperation against Corruption” to be held in Cali,
Colombia, have been changed to June 21 and 22, 2011.
This event, organized by the Department of Legal Cooperation of the
Secretariat for Legal Affairs of the OAS, with the support of the
Government of Colombia, through its Ministry of External Relations and
the Presidential Program for Modernization, Efficiency, Transparency and
the Fight against Corruption, will be opened by the Vice-President of
the Republic of Colombia, Mr. Angelino Garzón, and the Secretary General
of the OAS, Mr. José Miguel Insulza.
In addition, as part of the program, this Second Hemispheric
Anticorruption conference will include dialogue and discussion panels
with international experts in areas such as: the protection of
whistleblowers of acts of corruption; sworn statements of interest;
civil society participation and the responsibility of the private sector
in the fight against corruption, as well as training initiatives and
useful tools for the prevention of this serious problem.
