Consultation for the elaboration of the SRFOE reference document on progress, challenges and recommendations for the prevention of violence and discrimination against women journalists.
The Office of the Special Rapporteur for Freedom of Expression (SRFOE) invites the States Parties of the Organization of American States (OAS), civil society organizations, academia, international organizations and other relevant actors to send their comments on SRFOE's background paper on progress, challenges and recommendations for the prevention of violence and discrimination against women journalists.
The object of this background paper is to compile progress and challenges on the status of women journalists in newsrooms and to formulate recommendations that facilitate the implementation of the standards developed by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights in the report Women Journalists and Freedom of Expression (2018 - paragraphs 176-180).
In turn, this instrument seeks to serve as a frame of reference for OAS States Parties to take into consideration in order to ensure that their laws, policies and practices on the prevention of violence and discrimination against women journalists are in line with Inter-American human rights norms and standards.
For this purpose, the following web form has been enabled and will be available until January 30, 2022.
