The new Permanent Representative of Brazil to the Organization of American States (OAS), Otávio Brandelli, presented his credentials today to the Secretary General of the OAS, Luis Almagro, at a ceremony held at the headquarters of the hemispheric institution in Washington, D.C.

Secretary General Almagro said Brazil is a key partner of the OAS "in all our tasks." "Ambassador Brandelli, the four pillars that guide us -democracy, the promotion and protection of human rights, integral development and multidimensional security- will continue to find in Brazil a fundamental ally to continue seeking their fulfillment,” added Secretary General Almagro.

Ambassador Brandelli recalled that his country is a founding member of the OAS and stressed that Brazil shares the same values as the Organization. “The promotion and protection of human rights, representative democracy, multidimensional security and integral development will continue to receive the broadest attention of the Brazilian Mission,”said the Brazilian diplomat.

Ambassador Brandelli was Secretary General of Itamaraty and represented his country before Mercosur and Aladi, among other previous diplomatic posts.
