The new Permanent Representative of Peru to the Organization of American States (OAS), Gustavo Adrianzen, presented his credentials today to the Secretary General, Luis Almagro, during a ceremony held at the headquarters of the hemispheric institution in Washington, DC.

Ambassador Adrianzen expressed the "unwavering and unwavering commitment of the government and people of Peru to the values" of the OAS. "In the particular and special circumstances that Peru has experienced in recent months, we have found in the OAS loyal friends, the opportune word and the Permanent Council. Thus, we reaffirm our commitment to the Inter-American system for the protection of human rights," added the Peruvian diplomat.

For his part, Secretary General Almagro recalled that Peru is one of the founding countries of the OAS and stressed that throughout its history it has played "an outstanding role in the unity of the Americas and the Caribbean." "Ambassador Adrianzen, Peru has given an example of the validity of the rule of law. Despite the problems that have arisen in political matters, the maintenance of the constitutional order has always prevailed," added the OAS Secretary General.

Among other positions held throughout his career, Ambassador Adrianzen has been Minister of Justice and Human Rights of Peru.
