The Group of Friends of the Columbus Memorial Library of the Organization of American States (OAS) organized today an event with author Dorel Callender, who was the first woman to serve on the Board of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and has a long history of international service. In her presentation, Callender highlighted the importance and legacy of the Caribbean cuisine to the culture of the region and said she wrote her book, "A Caribbean Mom's Table," in an effort to preserve the Caribbean cultural heritage.

The event was attended by the Permanent Representative of Canada and Chairman of the Group of Friends of the Library, Ambassador Allan Culham, and the Permanent Representative of Jamaica, Ambassador Stephen Vasciannie, among other guests.
