The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, met today with the President-elect of Honduras, José Orlando Hernández, whose inauguration he will attend tomorrow in Tegucigalpa.

During the meeting, the two discussed the current political situation in the region, with a focus on the summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) to be held in Cuba on Tuesday and Wednesday. The President-elect of Honduras thanked Secretary General Insulza for his presence at the ceremony tomorrow, and for the sending of an Electoral Observation Mission to the presidential elections of November 24.

The two also talked about the intense electoral cycle in Latin America and the Caribbean during 2014, and the Report on the Drug Problem in the Americas, presented by the OAS in 2013, with particular emphasis in the debate it generated in the region.
