OAS Secretary General Met with the President of Honduras

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS) José Miguel Insulza, was received by the President of Honduras, Juan Orlando Hernández, during his official visit to the Central American country.

During the meeting, President Hernández and Secretary General Insulza discussed the current political context in the region, with particular attention to the problem of the children migrating from Central America to the United States, the dynamic of the phenomenon, the importance placed by Honduras on their care and the coordinated efforts being made by the affected countries to find a solution.

The two leaders will participate today, together with the First Lady of Honduras, Ana de Hernández, in the International Conference on Child Migrants, during which the problem will be discussed as well as possible solutions to the humanitarian emergency that is currently affecting tens of thousands of children from Central America.

The Honduran President and the OAS leader also discussed the cooperation between the country and the Organization. The also focused on the judicial facilitators program, carried out by Honduras with the support of the hemispheric institution and which was the focus of the First Meeting of Judicial Facilitators held on Monday in Tegucigalpa.
