Grenada Assumes the Chair of the Inter-American Council for Integral Development

The Permanent Representative of Grenada to the Organization of American States (OAS), Yolande Yvonne Smith, today assumed the Chair of the Inter-American Council for Integral Development (CIDI), in a ceremony at the headquarters of the Organization in Washington DC.

"My delegation is committed to continuing the work of CIDI in the specific areas of resilience and advancement of social and sustainable development, we must examine our response to the region's vulnerability to natural disasters, as well as our level of preparedness and response to the effects of climate change, "said Smith.

For his part, the outgoing Chair of CIDI and Permanent Representative of the United States, Carlos Trujillo, commented that in his role as chair, “We did our best to focus on topics relevant to member states and to address key priorities of development in the region including women´s entrepreneurship, natural resources, migration and education.”

CIDI is the entity of the OAS responsible for promoting partnership for integral development with the objective of contributing to the elimination of poverty.
