Each year in April, the OAS Board of External Auditors publishes a report covering the previous calendar year’s financial results. Reports covering 1996-2016 may be found here.

OAS and WIPO to Present Studies on the Impact and Importance of the Creative Industries in the Countries of the Americas

The Organization of American States (OAS) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) will present on Thursday, January 26, the conclusions of a series of national studies on the Economic Contribution of Creative Industries and its impact on economic development and employment in the continent.
The studies were developed in more than 30 countries, including Canada, USA, Mexico, Jamaica, Colombia, Peru, and in Brazil and Trinidad and Tobago are currently underway. They include key information to national authorities and decision makers on how to stimulate growth, promote competitiveness and enhance the multiplier effects generated by the creative industry in other sectors. The creative industries are those in which the product or service contains a substantial artistic or creative element and is protected by copyright.
The event will be held at OAS headquarters in Washington, DC, with the participation of the OAS Assistant Secretary General, Albert Ramdin; the Minister of Planning and Economy of Trinidad and Tobago, Bhoendradatt Tewarie; the Vice-Chairman, International Intellectual Property Institute, Jorge Amigo Castañeda; and the Deputy Director, Creative Industries Section, Creators and Performers Support Division of WIPO, Dimiter Gantchev.
