RESULTS REPORT OF THE OAS 38TH GENERAL ASSEMBLY

  June 6, 2008

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, and Ambassador Camilo Ospina, Permanent Representative of Colombia to the OAS, will present the Results Report of the 38th General Assembly/Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Americas, which took place in Medellin, Colombia, June 1-3, 2008.

The meeting, to be moderated by Irene Klinger, Director of the Department of International Affairs, will be held at OAS headquarters, on Monday, June 9th, 2008, from 4:00 pm until 5:30 pm.

Topics of discussion will include: Youth and Democratic Values: Main Points of the Declaration of Medellin; Foreign Ministers Action on Improving Relations between Colombia and Ecuador; Reflections on Progress of the OAS on its 60th Anniversary; The Voice of Civil Society in the Americas: Focus on Youth; and Plans for the 2009 Summit of the Americas.

A Q&A session will follow the presentation.
