FORMER FARC HOSTAGE CLARA ROJAS TO PARTICIPATE IN OAS INTER-AMERICAN PEACE FORUM

Colombian lawyer Ms. Clara Rojas will participate next Monday, September 21, in the Inter-American Peace Forum, which will open Peace Week at the Organization of American States (OAS).

Ms. Rojas, a former hostage of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), will deliver the keynote speech at an event that will be inaugurated by the OAS Secretary General, Mr. José Miguel Insulza. The event will be held at 10:00 am EDT (2:00 pm GMT) in the Hall of the Americas of the OAS Main Building in Washington, D.C.

In her speech, Ms. Rojas will share her experiences during almost six years of captivity in the hands of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC).

OAS Peace Week will also host other events such as the screening of the documentary “The Day after Peace”, with the attendance of the director Jeremy Gilley: an exhibit of historical photographs of the OAS Columbus Memorial Library Archives: a Concert by the Youth Chamber Orchestra “Notas de Paz”; an exhibition of selected works of the Permanent Collection of the Art Museum of the Americas; and the event “Chalk4Peace” to promote art among youth and children.
