Cybersecurity Program of CICTE of the OAS Organizes 2021 Virtual Cybersecurity Symposium

The Cybersecurity Program of the Inter-American Committee against Terrorism (CICTE) of the Organization of American States (OAS) will hold, from September 20 to 30, 2021, the fifth edition of the Cybersecurity Symposium. This discussion forum on topics related to cybersecurity trends aims to train industry experts and professionals in different topics such as data analysis, internet privacy and security trends, public cybersecurity policies, and cybercrime, among others.

The symposium will feature participants and panelists from the public sector, private sector companies associated with the cybersecurity program, academics from international universities, and specialists from the OAS. The event is intended for decision makers, specialists from cyberattack response centers, cybersecurity bodies and the general public interested in cybersecurity.

The opening and closing sessions will include the participation of:

• Juan Pablo Castro, Director of Technology & Cybersecurity Strategist (Latin America), Trend Micro
• Merritt Baer, CISO Office Director, AWS
• Danya Centeno, Public Policy Manager for Latin America at Twitter
• Alyssa Cooper, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for Technology Policy, Cisco

Likewise, six technical sessions related to technical aspects of cybersecurity will be developed, which will address topics such as female leadership in CSIRTs, adaptation of cybersecurity policies to emerging technologies, digital research and data privacy trends, among others.
